The University of Huddersfield in association with EM-VA (Events Management and Volunteering  Agency formed by a team of our placement students) are delighted to bring you a series of lectures that address the events industry from the unique perspective of influential speakers with real life experience.

The first of the series will take a look at the biggest event in Yorkshire of 2014 - the Tour de France Grand Depart.  This lecture will take place on Wednesday 30 April, 5.00pm to 6.45pm (registration from 4.15pm) in the Jubilee Theatre in the Business School.  This event is free to University staff and students.

The lecture intends to give an insight into the bidding and planning process and the legacy of such a large scale event along with the benefits of the event to the tourism and hospitality industry within Yorkshire, from the perspective of Welcome to Yorkshire CEO Gary Verity who helped to secure the bid.  Alongside Gary there will be the Mayor of Kirklees Martyn Bolt who will be talking about how the race helps Huddersfield and the legacy that is to be left behind and current University of Huddersfield student, entrepreneur and co-founder of the Lazy Camper, Jacob Hill, who will give his perspective on how the Tour de France is relevant to businesses of all sizes in Huddersfield, as well as looking at how local businesses have taken advantage of the tour.
