During the Research Festival which takes place from 8 to 11 April there is an event on Wednesday 9 April - Publishing in Academic Journals: tips to help you succeed.  This event, by Graham Hobbs from Routledge, is open to staff, students and members of the public.  You can find full details and register here: Programme of Events

Graham Hobbs, Editorial Director of the Education journals at Routledge, has over 35 years’ experience in the publishing industry and has worked mainly with academic journals throughout his career. Graham also teaches at Oxford Brookes University on their Master’s in Publishing course.

In the academic world, publishing papers in academic journals is becoming increasingly important for all academics, especially those starting their careers. The process of submitting a paper to journal, understanding the peer review process and getting your paper accepted is a mysterious world.  In this presentation, you will find out how to choose the best journal for your paper, an open access journal is a possible route for your work, how to prepare the perfect manuscript and find out the top ten reasons why your paper could be rejected. Hopefully, this lecture will help you avoid these!

The Research Festival is an annual event held at the University, which is now in its sixth year. Previously the festival has been internally facing but we are opening the invitation to external audiences.
